A couple of years ago I went to New York with some girlfriends and after that Madeline just fell in love with the idea of it and everything New York. She wanted to go so bad so I told her I would take her when she was eight. Well it came fast and Jeff was still in Residency but a promise is a promise so we got lucky. My next door neighbor gave Maddy a free airplane ticket on Jet Blue (thanks Eva) and then I heard that my friend Ashley was moving there so I asked her if we could stay. (thanks Ashley) we had a great time. We tried to do it all and now her dad, brother and sister want to go. Which is good because we can't wait to go back.

The morning we arrived we took a shuttle to my friend Ashley's apartment in the Upper West Side we had a little nap then went out for lunch and went to the Natural History Museum. I gave Maddy the camera and told her to take pictures of things that she thought were cool. This is one of the things she liked. A giant Jelly fish.

Madeline in front of the museum, next she wanted to hit FAO Schwartz. I told her that that was on the other side of central park so we flagged down a bike that gives ride. It's not cheap but he said he would charge less because of Madeline. It was fun and he pointed out lots of interesting sights on the way.

Next day we took the subway to Time Square we did some shopping ate lunch and saw a Broadway show.

We were eating lunch and ready to leave when I looked at the clock and we still had sometime before our show so we decided to stay at our table (restaurant was crowded) and order dessert. We were so glad we did because the people sitting next to us got up to leave and in walked a dad with his daughter my first reaction was oh that's a cute girl then I thought I know her how do I know her. It finally hit me that she is Hermine from Harry Potter but no one else seem to notice so I thought maybe I was wrong. Next she started talking to the waiter and when I heard the English accent I knew it was her. I asked her and she said yes and so I asked her for a photo with Madeline and she said if we do it discreetly with out the flash so I held the camera under my table to take a secret photo. Then I couldn't figure out the flash so I said no worries and then her dad who was so nice said he might be able to fix my camera. We got the flash off and one quick photo. They were both so nice and her dad kept telling Madeline how pretty she was and how he liked her bow. So we are now even bigger fans! I told Madeline she now has her New York celebrity experience.

Madeline getting ready for Marry Poppins to start. It was such a good show and she loved it. She did ask me why everyone else had better seats and I told her everyone else does not have a dad in Medical school.

Next we went to Macy's for the big department store experience. Their windows are so amazing for Christmas and their Santa land was so fun.

Back to Time Square for dinner and to see the lights. I took her to planet Hollywood and she loved it because of all the High School Musical stuff they had.

The next day was the big day. The day she had been waiting for. She finally got to go to the American Girl Store and buy her first doll. She really wanted Kit Kitridge. She picked out some cute outfits and behind her in this photo is the doll hospital she would like her dad to do his fellowship here.

We also checked Kit into the beauty shop so she could get her ears pierced just like Madeline

We had a lunch reservation at the Cafe. It's so cute if your going to go to the store it's very worth it. Makes a fun experience I think they gave us the best table we had a window with a view of 5th Ave.

Rockefeller Center

The beautiful tree. She wanted to go ice skating but the weather was very bad so we quickly went to look at the Today Show and I saw Matt inside and then went to Dean and Deluca for Hot Coco.

The next day we hung out on the upper West Side. Ashley took us to the cutest cafe for cupcakes we loved it and of course we had to bring Kit!

Madeline turns 8

Madeline turned Eight on December 8th. Eight is a very big deal and she was baptized by her dad on Jan 3. It was a very special time for our family. We also have some family traditions Madeline always bugged me to get her ears pierced. I told her she could get her ears pierced when she was eight. So we had a fun birthday party for her. Some friends came over in the morning and we had a birthday breakfast and then we all got in the car went to claires to watch Madeline get her ears pierced then back to our house for presents and cake. She looks so cute with her earrings. Now her sister tells everyone "my sister has her ears pierced and I will get my ears pierced when I turn 8" Madeline choose her ears to be pierced with a white little diamond stud so it would look nice for her baptism day.

For Ashley's 3rd birthday she wanted a Disney princess party. We invited some of her friends and Madeline was my party helper. Maddy even wore a pretty dress got Ashley ready ( I love how she did Ashley's hair) and helped with the craft. Ashley had so much fun.

Twilight Premiere

Halloween 2008

We had a fun Halloween and the weather was great. We went trick or treating with Garrett and Autumn so we made for a fun group. Madeline and Michelle were Dorthy and Aunt Michelle let Madeline borrow on of her dogs for Toto. Ashley was Alice and Jeff was the ace of hearts. I think off with his head. Tyler was Venom and boy did he scare me. We also had a bee, Ariel, Dracula and Kip. I think my favorite part of Halloween is the kids with their cute little voices saying "trick or treat".

Madeline has had some fun things happen the last couple of months. She had a great soccer season and loves her team. She got an award at school for being kind, she was a flamingo in the Peter Pan play and even her hamster the late Hannah Montana won a small critter race at Petco.

Ashley loves to dress herself and this was one of my favorites. She even thought to do tights and the shoes and hat match. It was so cute when she came downstairs in this. She was so proud of herself so of course we all made a big deal and kept telling her how great she looked. I don't think this girl suffers from a lack of self confidence.

So the day of Tyler's b-day party I was backing out of the garage to go pick up his cake when I hit my mirror on the side of the garage. It's not because it was a tight fit I'm not sure what I was thinking, I would like to blame it on pregnancy brain. We used duct tape to fix it and we thought it was so smart but just so everyone knows duct tape is not meant for freeway speed. Jeff said the duct tape would humble me I told him "have you even seen my car, I think I'm humbled enough by it without the duct tape" The mirror is now fixed but this it the way medical residents pimp a ride.... oh yea we are so hip.

Jeff's sister Michelle married Bobby Turttletaub in September. It was a beautiful wedding and the kids had so much fun. Ashley danced all night, she has great moves. Madeline caught the bouquet and Tyler loved the big wedding cake.

My kids hang out with their cousins ALOT ! So if you ask Ashley what her daddy's name is she will say "Daddy" but if you say what's his real name she will say "Uncle Jeff" but lately Madeline has been watching reruns of the show Full House and my kids all love it..... so now you say Ashley whats your dad's name, she says "Uncle Jesse!"

Also I spend most my day hearing updates about Full House..... it goes something like this....

Mom, Mom, Mom, guess what Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky had the twins..... I reply yea that happened like 15 years ago! Then I say stuff like I bet they grow up really fast and have long hair that their mom and dad never want to cut..... a few episodes later I wow them with my magical powers of predicting the future.

My mom came to Utah to watch the kids while Jeff and I went to PA. I was then going to drive her home so the kids and I could have a vacation in California. My friend Shelby flew down the last few days. We couldn't leave when planned because of the early arrival of my new niece Penny so we didn't have that much time in Cali but even a few days is worth the drive when you can hit the beach!

Jeff had a conference in Hersey, Pennsylvania. We decided to make it into a 10 year anniversary trip. Jeff had never been to PA so we flew into Philadelphia spent a couple of days in one of my favorite cities and then did a road trip before the conference started. We had so much fun, we both love American History so we were like kids in a candy store. It was great to spend time together alone with out kids.

Independence Hall- I love this building. I love it for the history that took place there, the beautiful city it's in and the architecture is fab!

Elfreth's Alley this historic neighborhood is so cute. I just wish I could go inside all the cute little homes.

We were told by some locals that this place on Market Street has the best philly cheesesteaks, I would have to agree.... of course for Jeff hold the cheese.

I guess they don't teach you everything in Medical school - Jeff never learned not to put his neck into an alligators mouth.

Valley Forge is so beautiful we even checked out real estate. Jeff and I watched the History Channel's Revolution a couple of years back so when we took a guided tour to the huts we were so impressed with our selves when we knew all the answers to the guides questions :)

The Amish country is so pretty and it's just so amazing how they live. Jeff said he liked it and would like to live like the Amish I said it was nice knowing you.

Anyways I never knew how loud that actually was until we are on a quite Amish farm where they don't even have cars. I think they were happy to see us go. Sorry!

Next stop Gettysburg

Well we went from Revolutionary war to Civil war. Gettysburg is amazing it's amazing to imagine what happened on these quite farm fields. We spent a whole day doing a car tour and going through the museum and then we ate at an old home turned into a restaurant that was in National Geographic for having a room used in the underground railroad. I highly recommend a visit to Gettysburg.

Saturday it rained hard from all the hurricanes that were hitting the gulf so we took a visit to the Indian Echo caverns. We were about to go in and we got a call from Madeline telling us Autumn had her baby- early and she delivered her own baby in a car.

After we got back from Seattle Madeline went to school and I got a call telling me she broke her arm. She was so brave she did not even cry. It was a very bad brake right above her elbow and the fracture spread to her elbow. She had surgery and they put two pins in it. It healed very well and she already has her cast off. Thanks to Aunt Autumn for the surfboard art work. Her arm is still weak but hopefully she will be back to normal in a couple of weeks.

Road trip to Seattle

The beginning of August we had some major warranty work done on our home so we had to leave the house. Jeff stayed at his sister's home and I decided that I wanted to go somewhere fun so I took a road trip with the kids to go see my Aunt, Uncle and cousins in Seattle. I've never been to Seattle and I love it there. It is so green and beautiful the kids had a blast and it was so fun to be with family. The trip took about 13 hours I stopped in Boise on the way there and on the way back. My cousin David and his wife Hailey let us crash at their place in Boise. Hailey gave me a tour of Boise and it's so cute I loved downtown Boise. So a week in Seattle was great the pictures are out of order from our agenda but we shopped, hiked, ate, swam, road a ferry and had a ball..... oh we even got a private concert from my talented cousin Ray. Every morning the kids and I had so much fun picking wild raspberries and huckleberries. We even made huckleberry pancakes. They just grow everywhere and you don't need to water!!!! Anyways lots of pictures below but we had a great time and can I just say I love my kids they are so much fun to be with and they do so good in the car. I feel so lucky! Oh and for all you twilight readers no I did not see any vampires or werewolves but see below for a twilight plug in :)

Last year my grandma called to give me the exciting news that they were taking us all on a cruise to Alaska - There are 18 grand kids and most are married so we are a big group. Sadly Jeff wasn't able to go but other than that the trip was a blast. We had the best weather and the ship was so pretty. Alaska is so beautiful and I highly recommend a balcony for the cruise there is just too much too see so even when your in your room you'll want to be able to see out. We had tons of fun we took over the pool - I mean there were 33 of us - we even splashed some of the other guest. At night we ruled club Fushion where on the last day my brother won Princess pop star for his karaoke skills. The dining room was where I received "recommendations" for the best food. I had such a good time with my family and highly recommend a cruise to Alaska!

Jeff and I had some friends over for a BBQ (loved Deidra's Burgers, Shelby's salad and Autumn's dip- thanks ladies) we had them bring their bikes and we rode to the lake and took out the boats. We had a good time!

Well it's no surprise to anyone that Madeline is the biggest Hannah Montana fan. Madeline was dying to see Miley Cyrus at the 4th of July Stadium of Fire show. I tried getting tickets for her and it just sold out to fast so Autumn heard about a Radio Contest that you can dress your dad up like Hannah and the winner gets to go to the concert and to see Hannah in LA. Well that Madeline has her dad and Uncle Garrett wrapped around her finger so Autumn said we better enter both of them just to make sure we win. Autumn and I did wardrobe and of course Michelle was on Makeup. Just to add a touch we dressed Maddy up as Billy Ray. So lets all hope we win!!!!!

We got so much snow this day and the kids and I started this snow man and had to bring in Jeff to help us finish him. We were feeling really good about our big snow man until we looked across the street and spotted the GIANT....... We can't be too discouraged our neighbor is an engineer. However Jeff made sure ours was healthy and our snowman passed a physical.

I just wanted to express how much I appreciate and love my two best friends Brittany and Deidra. We found each other 5 years ago, we were all new to San Diego and we hooked up at an Enrichment night. There were so many people there but some how we ended up sitting together at the same table. We couldn't stop chatting, they even had to ask us to leave so they could close up the building. From that day on we quickly became the best of friends and were always together. I can honestly say that those were the best times in my life. We had so much fun and so many laughs. Brittany is my rock she is so fun always upbeat and luckily we found each other it's very hard to come across another mom with kids your same age that is willing to go to the beach with you everyday. She is my fellow beach bum. Brittany's husband was in Med School with Jeff and is also an anesthesiologist resident, we can totally feel each other's single mom pains. Deidra is a blast, she cracks me up. She is my style guru and since her hands have touched my head my hair has never looked better. She has so many gifted talents and has done so much service for me and my family. Deidra and Brittany I love you guys and I truly mean you are my BFFs.

Easter

I love the holidays and we had such a nice Easter. The spring weather was perfect and boy did the Easter Bunny nail it, I mean how did he know that the kids just wanted those Easter Webkins. We had a wonderful dinner surrounded by friends and family. We were joined by Garrett, Autumn and their kids Henry and Grace. Autumn's dad Allen, who often joined our family for Easter while I was growing up happened to be in town so it was very nice having him it felt like tradition. Jeff's sister Michelle, her fiance Bobby and their cute dog Gizmo. Also my best friend Deidra who made the most amazing Jello I've ever seen, this girls talents never end. Autumn did such a good job with the dinner I'm telling you this girl can cook. Jeff bought beautiful flowers for my table (thanks for my Easter present Hun) and I just had so much fun decorating my table.

The best part of the day was going to church and remembering the true reason for this nice holiday. I'm so grateful for my Savior my relationship with Him is my greatest gift. I'm grateful for all he has done for me and this world. I'm grateful for the blessing He has given me with my beautiful family and all that I have. I'm also so grateful for the primary and all the wonderful leaders who on that day taught my kids about the true meaning of Easter. My kids know their Savior loves them and that is my greatest joy.

Bobby is so awesome and we are so glad to have him in our family. My kids love Uncle Bobby. Cute Madeline just loves being with these two and was happy to sit between them.

California dreaming on such a winters day

Trip to California!

It had been a year since I have been to California. Jeff said what do you want to do while we are there and I said just the beach. One look at that ocean and my spirit just gets lifted. I love the beach and I'm so lucky my family does too. We had so much fun on our quick visit. We meet Mariel and Tita at Balboa beach. The kids had so much fun on the ferris wheel and merry go round. I was in heaven eating a frozen banana on the board walk. We then found some beautiful seashells and Ashley found that throwing sand at her Mita was just too much fun. Luckily for me Mariel is just as much fun as the kids and a real good sport. We then enjoyed good 'ole times and met my BF Brittany at my favorite Beach, La Jolla Shores and our favorite spot "Life Guard Tower 32". We had a blast in Oceanside with my mom and Steve we sure love that Pier and how thankful am I that my step dad loves the beach as much as me and bought a home only five minutes away. One morning my mom watched the kids and Jeff and I took the beach cruisers on the bike path and rode all along the beach and harbor. That's one of my favorite things - a bike ride on the beach (especially if the bike is a cute beach cruiser :). To top off our visit my grandpa (Poppy) came down to visit us. I haven't seen him since my grandma's funeral. He brought his new wife Gloria, she is wonderful and Ashley started calling her Angel and kept telling me she was an Angel. It was so cute.

Well California has my heart and soul but don't get me wrong I'm very happy to live in Utah especially if my husband keeps his promise to me that I can rent a beach house every year :)

We had a fun girls weekend in Park City. We went to dinner, we went skiing, hot tubbing, and pajama party! I have really wonderful girlfriends and can I just say my brother's married two of the greatest girls. Plus marry Jeff Michelle becomes your sister....... how lucky am I.

Okay I'm a slacker with my blog so I'm catching up. Anyways my favorite would have to be Jeff's costume he dressed up as Baby Ashley (that's what we call her). Some of you know that we like to say our cute little baby has a mullet or as my brother would say a skullet. Since Jeff already had the wig and I had the pajamas it was a fun costume. Well we got a good laugh from it.

Hannah Montana

Okay yes I'm one of those moms that had to get tickets to the Hannah Montana concert. But we lucked out they announced a new concert night in Salt Lake so my neighbors and I got together and we got tickets. We had three computers up and four phone lines, we ended up in the nose bleeds but I was glad that we got tickets and for the price of $30.00 so I didn't have to sell my car for one night of teen sensation. Madeline had a great time and we even rented a limo for the girls. I have to say she put on a great show, but I had more fun watching Madeline and her friends.

One Saturday that I had to work, it just so happened that our neighbors wife was out of town so Jeff planned a dad and kids hike. Jeff and Alan hiked donut falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon they had a great time and thanks to Alan for taking this picture. It is one of my favorites. Look at all these Jeff Macievic's. I swear it doesn't really matter who the mother is.
